Nate Thompson Driver Profile
Nate Thompson is a passionate 16-year-old go-kart racer from Townsville, North Queensland. His racing journey began at 13 and it’s been a thrilling ride ever since.
When Nate is not studying at Ryan Catholic College or helping out at his family’s small business, he is honing his craft on the track. Nate is also fortunate to be part of the SONIC Motor Racing Services team, working alongside their incredible crew competing in the Carrera Cup and Michelin Sprint Series.
2024 marked Nate’s final year in the KA3 Junior category, and it was a season of growth and achievement. Nate set ambitious goals, worked hard to improve his driving technique, communication, fitness and racecraft, and the results followed—multiple wins, lap records, and podiums at key North Queensland events.

Our team is a true family affair, proudly competing out of our custom-built trailer at local events. Whether it’s my sister joining the action or lending a hand to fellow racers, our weekends are all about teamwork. My parents’ dedication and support are the backbone of my success, from kart setup to post-race debriefs.
This year, I’ve also discovered a passion for coaching younger drivers. Helping them develop their skills and reach new milestones has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
