Nate Thompson Claims First Plate at Queensland State Cup 2024! 🏆

History was made this weekend as Nate Thompson secured his first-ever plate by dominating the Queensland State Cup at the iconic Mako Track in Mareeba. Hosted by Cairns Kart Club, this event brought together a quality Queensland field, and Nate delivered a performance that will be remembered for years to come.

Not only did he claim the KA3 Junior Champion title, but Nate also shattered lap records, clean-swept the weekend, and maintained his undefeated streak as a junior at Mako.

Racing Highlights
Arriving with a game plan to put his Energy Kart at the front, Nate started strong in Thursday’s practice, breaking the lap record in his very first session. By the end of the weekend, he had completely obliterated the record by nine-tenths of a second and topped every session by margins of 3 to 6 tenths per lap.

This wasn’t just Nate’s weekend to shine. His teammate Zac had an impressive debut with his brand-new Tony Kart. Starting the event with limited track time, Zac qualified 10th but made remarkable progress over the weekend. By the final, his determination and skill propelled him to a 3rd-place finish, earning the team two podium spots!
