A Weekend to Remember at Mackay and District Kart Club

When opportunity knocks, champions answer. Originally planning for a break, Nate Thompson made a last-minute decision to race the 2024 Whitsundays Titles on September 14th. Despite limited preparation time, Nate proved why he’s one of the brightest talents in junior karting, clinching the Whitsunday Junior Champion title after a day of thrilling competition.

A Rocky Start, A Glorious Finish

Without the advantage of Friday practice due to non-membership at the Mackay Kart Club, Nate had just one 6-minute session on Saturday morning to find his rhythm and tune the kart. However, what began as a challenging weekend quickly transformed into a showcase of resilience and racing prowess.

In Heat 1, a slight misstep on the starting grid led to a two-place penalty, but Nate’s determination never wavered. The remaining heats and the final? Absolutely textbook performances.
